As I am writing and submitting this blog post, Pokémon Go is releasing Sinnoh Pokémon on the streets. Now, I really like the different productions for a reason or another but Generation 4 appears to have a special place in my heart as that was once I got back to Pokémon after a very long hiatus. In particular, Pokémon Platinum rankings as one of my favorite Pokémon games as they took Diamond and Pearl and enhanced everything about these games making a stellar classic.
But we are here to ascertain which types are the best for a Monotype (or solitary Form ) Run which is a run in which you only capture and train 1 type of Pokémon. And regrettably, the Sinnoh matches are hit or miss. Although more Pokémon are released, Diamond and Pearl simply have 150 Pokémon accessible so that you get some fairly average runs. Platinum happily adds 60 more Pokémon to Sinnoh that produces a whole lot of types doable or splendid.
I have written previous posts on Monotype Run so check those out. However, for those that are unfamiliar here are some rules.
- Only Pokémon of a specific type may be caught and educated.
- You need to grab the first Pokémon available of this kind if your starter doesn’t fit that type (you will then need to disregard that beginner ).
- You may instruct a Pokémon that evolves to stated type provided that you get it done ASAP.
- No trading enabled
- Only Pokémon caught before Elite Four are all counted.

Without further ado, let’s have a look! A listing of full team combinations can be seen below also.
The Greatest Types
Beginning with the best tier I would say the Water, Poison, Normal, Beloved, Steel, along with Struggling types are types that you should go for because of their commonality, early availability and kind policy. This is the very first time in the series in which Poison can defend itself against Psychic attacks thanks to Drapion and Stuntank and if you’ve Roserade, Toxicroak, Crobat, and Tentacruel financing up you you’re in for a fantastic time. Fighting types meanwhile have a close consistent occurrence-rate as you’ve got Chimchar as the starter and then later you have Medicham, Toxicroak, and, of course, Lucario. Water is splendid as usual but this conduct is unique since you got Empoleon who’s incredibly infrequent and amazing. Empoleon’s presence also creates the Sinnoh games a hidden jewel for a Steel team, definitely don’t miss it here.
Meanwhile, Platinum enriches these types further and make Ground along with Flying types entertaining…thanks tooooo Gliscor! Gliscor’s wonderful type combo improves both of those kinds and come-on, it is Gliscor, they are the ideal. You Can Also train a Mamoswine for Ground and also a Togekiss and Yanmega for Flying.
The Wrong Forms
Like routine, Dragon and Ice are kinds that I strongly urge against. Even with Platinum these types suffer due to late game availability (especially Ice), limited selections, and inadequate coverage. Furthermore, if you are playing Diamond or Pearl, then Fire along with Electric are pretty abysmal. Sure, you can capture both types early on however there are barely any of them. Platinum increases their diversity and leaves them more doable but it will surely not be a walk at the park. Dark forms can also be rather dismal if your enjoying Pearl or Platinum as they’re accessible mid-game at best and there is a lackluster motto. Luckily, in Diamond, you can grab a Murkrow at Eterna Forest after the first gym.
Spiritomb
If you already skipped ahead and hunted through the record, you might have noticed Spiritomb is missing from the Dark and Publish type lists. That is because he is among the hardest non-legendary Pokémon to catch. You will need to receive that the Old Keystone, which itself is not too hard, however you also need to speak to 32 people in the underground. They have to be real individuals also and not NPCs! Luckily, you will only need one other individual with Diamond/Pearl/Platinum to do it. However, as you want an additional copy of the match so as to get Spiritomb this technically disqualifies Spiritomb based on our rules. But Dark type still has neutral coverage as a result of Drapion.
